Zusammenfassung
The article examines the United Nations peacebuilding strategy, which establishes a nexus between security, democracy and development, holding that sustainable peace can be achieved when institutional reforms toward democratization and economic development take place. Through a case study of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL, 2003-2018), the authors critically assess how effectively the UN's integrated approach to peacebuilding worked in practice.
